Latent – RAW Film Camera

Ver 1.5.0 2026-10-13
What’s New in 1.5.0

New Features:

- Film Shop: Discover and add new film looks. Browse HDR sample photos, swipe between scenes, and press and hold to compare with the original.
- LUT Export: Press and hold a film roll to export its color adjustments as a .cube LUT for use in compatible apps. Grain, vignette, and lens effects are not included.
- In-App Storage: Enable “Keep in Latent” in Settings > Latent to keep new shots in the app, then save your favorites to Photos.
- Focus & Exposure Lock: Tap to hold focus and metering on a point. Automatic adjustment resumes when you aim at a different scene. Press and hold to lock both focus and exposure.
- Capture Settings: Choose between 48MP and 12MP, set Volume Up to focus or shoot, and customize the adjustments available through Camera Control.
- Getting Started: New interactive walkthrough and contextual gesture tips. Replay them anytime in Settings > Latent.

Interface & Performance:

- Faster Shooting: The shutter is ready sooner, so you can take your next shot while the previous one develops.
- Film Box: Shots appear immediately with a preview of their film look. A gentle pulsing animation indicates development, revealing the finished photo when ready.
- Smoother Cropping: Rotation, straightening, and cropping respond immediately, with development applied when you finish.
- Lens Button Position: Choose to place the focal length button above or below the viewfinder in Settings > Latent.
- Refined film library animations, larger tap targets, and a reorganized Settings page.

Bug Fixes:

- Fixed film looks sometimes failing to save when leaving the app during development. Development now resumes when you return.
- Fixed the photo viewer sometimes showing an older image after development or reverting edits in Photos.
- Fixed overlapping capture animations when taking shots in quick succession.
- Fixed the selected film roll unexpectedly changing when rolls were added or removed.
- Fixed the level indicator jumping on appearance or flickering near level.

Note: Photos stored only in Latent are not included in iCloud Backup and are deleted if you remove the app. Save photos you want to keep to Photos.
Ver 1.4.0 2026-09-24
1.4.0 Update:

- New:
- Pro editing: hold a control for a second level — highlights, shadows, whites, blacks, curves, 8-band HSL, three-way color wheels, keep-one-color B&W, grain size and roughness, and a vignette that can brighten.
- Lens effects: new Halation; Flare, Black Mist and Halation can be used together.
- 10-bit output: photos save as 10-bit HEIF by default for smoother skies and gradients; turn off in Settings > Latent.
- Mirror front camera: toggle in Settings > Latent.
- LUTs: .3dl and .csp files, plus log LUTs such as Apple Log 2, S-Log3 and F-Log.
- Faster RAW: nearly half the time from shutter to film box, and the viewfinder no longer freezes on capture.

Ver 1.3.0 2026-09-01
1.3.0 · Update

- Rendering pipeline rebuilt:
- RAW-first develop — film recipes grade the DNG develop directly, instead of stacking on the in-camera HEIC
- HDR is now encoded as Adaptive HDR (gain map), the graded SDR re-lit by the camera's own gain field — viewfinder, editor and library finally agree
- End-to-end Display P3 color management; LUTs sample in their declared color space
- Starburst and Black Mist now keep HDR — rays and halation light up with their sources
- Fixed LUT colors rendering incorrectly in some cases
- Fixed HDR displaying incorrectly in certain situations
- New shooting tools: level, focus peaking, zebra stripes and grid (swipe up on the viewfinder)
- Plus plenty of UI updates and animation polish — hope you like it (・ω・)ノ
