3.0: Fault Finder

Fault Finder adds 30 returned-movement repair contracts. Diagnose failed checks and repair each movement within a one- or two-setting change budget.

• Open Workbench → Fault Finder and choose a contract.
• Diagnose the delivered movement. Adjust gears, spring, escapement or regulation.
• Test the repair against all six existing checks and the change budget; completed contracts remain marked after relaunch.

Changes count settings that differ from the delivered assembly, not taps. Repair drafts reset when you leave; completed contracts persist. This is a fictional clockwork puzzle and does not model repair of a real watch.

The clockwork workshop has been rebuilt around real puzzle decisions: finite gear fitting, exact compound reductions, six explicit pass/fail checks, spring and escapement trade-offs, and precise daily-rate regulation.

Sixty progressive movements now keep separate assemblies, undo histories and mastery records. Forty fieldbook lessons explain the rules. Repair Shop sessions now survive relaunch, diagnosis reveals service notes, and soundtrack playback pauses when you leave the shop. Earlier scores are preserved separately.

Borrowed Time Repair Shop adds ten original supernatural devices, ordered mechanical repair puzzles, returning customers, consequential dispositions, deterministic Daily and Weekly benches, Game Center scoring, and an expanded original soundtrack.
