With the iOS 27 update, tapping a chord pad could give you the little buzz and then nothing, no sound, no colour. That's fixed. Every press plays instantly and lights up as it does.

• Voice Leading, chords now move to their nearest notes instead of jumping register, so progressions flow instead of stepping. Switch it on under CTRL.
• Play with both hands, hold a chord with one finger and press the next with another. Sliding between pads is smoother, and letting go of one hand no longer cuts the other's chord.
• A tap always sounds, however briefly you touch the pad.
• A much bigger joypad on iPhone SE, with more room to aim and more expression.
• The Controls sheet is reorganised so it reads at a glance: the four pad modes, then the two locks, then Slide Chords and Voice Leading.
• Recording stops when you leave the instrument or the app, so a take can't roll on unnoticed. Playing a take back stops when you leave Recordings.
• The recording border now draws evenly all the way round, including the corners on larger iPhones.

Recording
• The countdown has been rebuilt. The count, click and take now all follow one clock.
• Pressing REC while the metronome or drums are already playing no longer makes them skip a beat.
• REC now waits for the next bar before counting in. The wait is silent with a grey pulse, and the count is always the number of bars you asked for.
• Recording starts on the scheduled downbeat, and the first drum hit is no longer clipped.
• The recording border and REC button now light together, right on the beat.
• Deleting a take while it is playing now stops playback.
• Long-press REC to quantize a take while allowing it to finish at the end of the current bar, creating a clean loop.
• MIDI exports now use the take’s recorded timing and settings rather than approximating them.
• Each recording stores its key, octave, chord mode, tempo, per-chord joypad zone and arpeggiator settings.
• The countdown now returns to the joypad in sync with the recording border and REC indicator.
• MIDI exports preserve trailing silence, so the full take length is retained.
• Older recordings now loop at their full length after resuming partway through.

Playing
• Chord pads now lead with the chord name, with the numeral shown as a quieter label.
• The joypad mode has moved onto the playing surface as the CTRL chip.
• The new Controls sheet includes Chord, Filter, Pitch and Shape modes, plus Lock Joypad, Lock Chords and Slide Chords.
• Lock Joypad now holds the pad in every mode.
• Slide Chords lets you hold and slide between chord pads without lifting your finger, with a smooth pitch transition.
• Controls scroll when needed on smaller screens, while the octave buttons remain accessible.
• Improved the iPhone SE layout and rebalanced the iPhone mini’s portrait joypad and chord pads.

Sound
• EMBER replaces NEON: a warmer voice that rings an octave as it arrives and darkens as it rings.

MIDI
• MIDI OUT now sends the arpeggio one note at a time when ARP is on, instead of sending the chord it was built from. The same applies to exported MIDI files.
• Note velocity is now configurable rather than fixed.
• Disabling MIDI OUT or changing its destination now releases held notes, preventing stuck notes.
• Improved MIDI input handling and arpeggiator reliability.

Tidy
• Landscape sheets now sit at their content height instead of appearing as a tall, mostly empty card.
• Instrument controls and navigation share one row in landscape. Recordings and Settings show navigation only.
• Fixed navigation and picker behaviour after rotating the phone.
• Faster toggles, tidier spacing and the haptics setting moved alongside the other app settings.

• REC now captures real audio, starting the moment you play. Export as .m4a, allowing you to AirDrop audio, drop into a DAW or send to anyone. MIDI export is updated too, so you get both from one take.
• Four new synth sounds added.
• Drums and the metronome start on the same downbeat, whichever you switch on first, and hitting REC while a loop is playing now waits for the bar to come round before counting in, so your take lands in time.
• Chords have their low end back on the main chord shapes, and ring out properly when you change between them.
• New app icon.
