Siri asks for a due date when you add an undated task on iOS 26 or later; turn off “Ask for Due Date” in the Shortcut to skip it. Siri and Shortcut tasks use your default due date and reminder (an entered date wins), widgets refresh after Siri adds a task, and a blank Add Task title becomes “New Task”; surrounding spaces are trimmed.

Settings → Support Development; Appearance → App Icon; Settings → Task Photos → Share full-resolution photos.

Pro is now Supporter. Earlier Pro and Apple Watch unlock purchases became Lifetime Supporter, with all current and future features and artwork; no subscription or repurchase is needed. Optional monthly, annual, and lifetime purchases plus repeatable tips support continued development.

All functional iOS features, including future ones, remain included without Supporter. Apple Watch viewing and complications are always free; editing and voice entry require an active subscription or Lifetime Supporter. Subscribers keep collections earned during paid periods after expiry. Purchase and restore errors now offer clearer guidance.

Midnight and Confetti join the Supporter 2026 app icon collection. Everyone can preview every design in full color. Tap a locked Supporter preview to open Support Development.

Task lists, search, and the editor stay up to date as sync runs. Task rows stay in place when sync progress appears, updates, or disappears, so sync does not shift a task away from your tap. Large imports show progress, run in bounded batches, and can resume after an interruption. Where supported, CalDAV change reports fetch only changed task details; other servers use a full scan. Local edits and task moves are protected, and malformed or incomplete task hierarchies do not cause false deletions. If saved task data cannot be opened, you can retry; NowThis does not erase it automatically. Sync refreshes reminders, Spotlight results, and Apple Watch task views.

Safer startup when opening saved tasks as the app moves to the background.

Add up to five photos to a task. Optimized previews sync with everyone who can access the list and stay available offline. The optional Settings → Task Photos → Share full-resolution photos setting is off by default and applies only to new photos. It lets you share full-resolution originals (up to 25 MB each) through Nextcloud Files after the list owner sets up sharing. Changes to list access may not apply to originals until the owner’s app syncs. Vault originals stay on your device.

Older NowThis versions can remove photos when saving tasks. Update every device that edits tasks with photos.

If sync fails, Settings now shows HTTP error details to help us troubleshoot.

Removing an account during sync now safely stops its sync instead of risking a crash.

Signing in to Nextcloud now starts sync automatically. By default, the import includes all active tasks and completed tasks from the last three months. Your Sync History choices are respected. Sync Now is now directly below Accounts in Settings.

Reminders now recover after interrupted scheduling, including changes from widgets and Apple Watch. Background sync shares one time limit across accounts and takes turns between lists.

Malformed calendar alarms no longer crash sync or hide later valid reminders.

More control over your lists, a Board that follows your moves, and more reliable Nextcloud sync.

ORGANIZATION
- Move to List… moves a task and its subtasks between lists, accounts, and Vault Mode. Use the task's menu, its Board card's menu, or List in its details. Moving into or out of a shared list changes where others see it; read-only destinations are unavailable.
- Customize your Tab Bar in Settings: choose and reorder up to three middle tabs, or hide them all. Tasks and Settings stay at the ends. Open other views from a list's title menu and choose a tab as your launch view.
- Default List for New Tasks now applies across the app, Calendar, Siri, Shortcuts, and Apple Watch. Recovered Tasks is no longer chosen automatically while an ordinary list is available.

BOARD AND TASK ENTRY
- Board cards land where you drop them, keep manual order, and reorder within a column. Hold a card at the edge to scroll across columns; the destination is highlighted.
- Status and Lists keep the same selected list, including after sync and relaunch. Subtasks stay with their parent's card, and empty lists have clearer messages.
- Search stays visible when you return to a list.
- Adding and completing tasks is faster on large accounts.
- The quick-add bar uses Liquid Glass on iOS 26 and later and follows the system tint setting on iOS 27.

SYNC, DATES, AND REMINDERS
- Server changes to completions, priorities, and tags arrive reliably. Existing tasks recover missing server tags; names containing commas remain one tag. Tag edits and list colors upload and survive sync.
- Deleted tasks stay deleted, subtasks are deleted with their parent, and server deletions reach the app. Incomplete server responses do not trigger deletion; trashed Nextcloud lists are skipped with a notice.
- Background sync refreshes the screen you return to and links subtasks to their parents.
- All-day due dates preserve start times on the same day. A start date that cannot be uploaded is retained locally.
- Repeating tasks appear once in Upcoming and Overdue. Completing them through Siri, Shortcuts, or a widget advances the next occurrence. Board completion stops finished-task reminders and advances recurring dates consistently.
- Due dates schedule notifications and badges even without opening the app, including in Vault Mode. Rescheduling moves the alert; Watch quick-add schedules reminders too. A short overdue notification accompanies badge updates; turning Badges off in iOS Settings stops these automatic overdue alerts.

APPLE WATCH AND WIDGETS
- Watch quick-add has Due presets and Priority choices. Dates spoken in dictation take precedence over the preset.
- The Home Screen widget uses the app's language instead of choosing another one.

STABILITY AND ACCESSIBILITY
- Fixed crashes when removing accounts, lists, or tasks while their content was on screen, and when opening Journals, Linked Journals on a task, journal entries, or hidden views on iOS 18.
- VoiceOver gains Move to List… and Board reorder actions, clearer subtask and tag buttons, and account names in the move picker. New controls are translated into all five additional languages.

APPLE WATCH
- Today on your wrist — the watch app opens to today's and overdue tasks, pushed live from your iPhone. Tap a task to complete it; the check happens instantly on the watch and syncs back through your phone.
- Browse your lists — Smart Lists (Today, Overdue, Upcoming, All) and every list of your own, with live counts. Drill into any of them and complete tasks from there.
- Complications — a circular remaining-today count, a rectangular next task with its due time, and an inline count, for your watch face or the Smart Stack.
- Voice quick-add — dictate a task from your wrist ("buy milk tomorrow at 5pm"). It is created on your iPhone with the title and due date parsed, then synced to your server.

NOWTHIS PRO
- Buying Pro is a direct way to support its continued development.
- Browsing your tasks on Apple Watch and using the complications are free. NowThis Pro — a one-time purchase, no subscription — unlocks checking tasks off and adding them by voice from the watch.
- Restore Purchases is in Settings, for a device you have bought on before.
- NowThis has no ads and no tracking.

NOW IN GERMAN, SPANISH, FRENCH, ITALIAN AND DUTCH
- The whole app, the widgets, the Apple Watch app and its complications.
- A collection of tasks is now called a List everywhere — it used to be a "Task List" on some screens and a "calendar" in two sync errors. A finished task is Completed everywhere, and "Done" now means only the button that closes a sheet.
- Menus stop showing internal identifiers. Sort options, Smart Lists, filter fields and recurrence presets were displaying values stored on disk. They now show a separate label — nothing stored has changed, which is what makes translating them safe.
- Translations are made by AI as part of building the app. Nothing you write is ever sent to an AI service. The app explains this once in each language, and the explanation stays in Settings with a link to report a bad translation.

BUG FIXES
- Version numbers now say when a release was made — 26.8 is August 2026, and 26.8.1 is a fix later that month.
- "Repeat Hourly Until Completed" now stops when the task is done. Completing or deleting a task left its hourly reminder running, and there was no way to stop it short of turning off notifications for NowThis entirely.
- Saved priority filters keep working. A priority rule stored the word shown on screen, which is about to be a different word in five languages.
- Focus filters select lists instead of matching typed list names, so translating the default list names cannot break them.
- Completed tasks sync correctly on Buddhist and Japanese calendars, where the sync window check was silently failing.
- Completed tasks are hidden from the calendar's day view when "Show Completed Tasks" is off.
- Removing a second account no longer creates a second Recovered Tasks list.

Every new control ships with full VoiceOver support.

Add tasks faster
- Single tap to add — Tap any blank area of a list to pop the keyboard and start typing, just like Apple Reminders. Press return to add and keep going.
- Inline quick add on every list — A text field pinned at the bottom of each list for rapid, back-to-back entry. Tap expand for priority, tags, and more.
- New tasks stay where you add them — Add a task in Today and it's due today; add it to a list and it joins that list. No more tasks vanishing into the inbox. An editable chip shows exactly what will be applied.
- Smart new-task defaults — Set an app-wide default due date (None, Today, Tomorrow, Next Week), or give each list its own default. Set a default due time too (9:00 AM by default).

Add tasks by voice
- Dictate one sentence to Siri — Say "Hey Siri, quick add to NowThis," then speak naturally: "buy milk tomorrow at 5pm." NowThis parses the title and the due date/time and reads back a confirmation.
- Understands "today," "tomorrow," "next Friday," "in 3 days," plus times like "at 5pm," "noon," and "midnight" — and the same natural-language parsing now works when you type into Quick Add.
- New Siri phrase — "Add a reminder in NowThis" alongside the existing task commands.

Reliable two-way sync with Nextcloud
- Server changes always reach your device and widget — New tasks, edits, completions, and reorders made on the server (or another device) now appear automatically without relaunching the app.
- Manual ordering truly round-trips — Drag to reorder in NowThis and it shows up in the Nextcloud Tasks web app, and vice-versa. Editing a task no longer disturbs its position.
- Subtasks sort and reorder under their parent, honoring your chosen sort with manual drag-to-reorder.
- Faster first sync — Fresh installs now sync the last 3 months of completed tasks by default (configurable); active tasks always sync regardless of age.
- Plain-language sync errors — A clear banner explains sign-in, connection, permission, and temporary server problems, with a tap to jump to Settings.

Smarter sorting & display
- Your chosen sort option and direction now stick across launches.
- Completed tasks stay at the bottom in every sort mode; new tasks appear at the top.
- Every due date shows a time slot — timed tasks show a clock time; all-day tasks read "· All day."
- All-day due dates show the correct day — fixed a timezone bug that showed the wrong day and a phantom time.
- All Day toggle in the task editor — flip a task between all-day and a specific time, preserving the chosen day.

More reminders & customization
- Hourly nag reminders — "Repeat Hourly Until Done" for tasks you can't afford to miss.
- All-day reminders fire at a configurable time of day (9:00 AM default) instead of end of day.
- Board tab: swipeable Lists mode — swipe through your lists one at a time.
- Edit list names & colors, reorder and hide sidebar sections, a global Show/Hide Completed toggle, and an Open App To startup-screen setting.
- The Repeat option is now always visible in Task Details.
