DrawPad 2.0: from idea to print in under a minute.

New:
• Starter templates — keychains, cookie cutters, name signs,
coasters, gift tags and stencils. Type a name, pick a shape,
see it at real size and export. Cookie cutters can use your
own drawing as the shape.
• Raised layers: lettering and parts can sit on top of a base,
so name signs and tags print as one piece.
• Open DrawPad projects straight from Files or AirDrop.
• Works with AI assistants: the free DrawPad tools for Claude and
other assistants turn a description into a print-ready STL and
a DrawPad project you can open and keep editing.

Fixed:
• Text and Box & Lid parts are now saved with your projects.
• Undo now covers text and parts, and always steps back exactly
one change.
• Text no longer sinks below the build plate.
• Exports of shapes with holes, stencils and lettering are
watertight in every slicer.
• Split & Mate and the top/bottom plates handle raised layers.
• Small models no longer open to an empty 3D view.

Fixes an issue where black and white pen colours were swapped when the device was set to Dark Mode — black ink drew invisibly on the white canvas. Your existing artwork is unaffected and displays correctly after updating.

Undo that survives relaunch, print-weight estimates, and a smoother, steadier canvas.

• Undo that survives — Your undo history is now saved with each project. Load a project and keep stepping back through the session you saved it in; closing the app no longer wipes the timeline.

• Print estimates — The 3D Workshop dimensions readout now shows your model's exact volume and estimated print weight, and every STL export reports volume, grams of PLA / PETG, and metres of filament alongside the print-readiness score. Know what a print costs before you slice it.

• Fixed: quick text and the keyboard — The tools sheet now lifts above the keyboard while you type, so the Quick Text field and Place button stay visible. Drag the list down to tuck the keyboard away.

• Fixed: smoother layers on iPad — Background layers now render only what you actually drew, ending the slowdowns and freezes some layered drawings hit on iPad.

• Fixed: autosave no longer causes a brief hitch while you draw — saving now happens entirely in the background.

• Fixed: imported photos now export in the position you placed them, instead of snapping to the canvas corner.

Bucket Fill remains paused while we finish rebuilding it — it will return in a future update.

What's New in Version 1.5 - A cleaner, faster canvas with the same one-tap access to 3D.

• Redesigned tools menu — Tools now slide up in a polished bottom sheet with a grab handle and a dimmed backdrop. Tap the handle or anywhere outside to dismiss. More room, smoother scrolling.

• Push-to-clear — Touch and hold the + button to clear your canvas. A red ring fills as you hold, so there are no accidental wipes — release early to cancel.

• Tidier header — Layers, projects, export, share, text, and help now live under a single ••• menu, so the top bar stays clean. Extrude stays right where you need it, front and center.

• Loaded-image pill — When you're tracing over a reference photo, a quick pill shows it's active — tap once to remove the background without touching your drawing.

• Polish and stability improvements throughout.

The 3D Workshop grows up — this one's for the printing hobbyists who've been with us from the start.

New:
• Vertical Split is here. Designs wider than your printer's bed now split into 2–5 side-by-side segments with puzzle interlocks carved right into the cut: knobs for alignment, tabs for registration, or dovetails that slide together from above and lock against pulling apart. The female side of every joint is sized by your chosen fit (Loose / Press / Glue), cuts automatically steer around holes in you design, and rings split into C-pieces — not solid halves. Export the set and print one segment per plate.
• Fitting keys. Flip one toggle and instead of carved joints, BOTH sides of every cut get sockets and separate key pieces print alongside — dowel pins for stacked splits, bowtie keys for vertical ones — bridging each joint for a solid, positive-locking assembly with flush cut faces. Keys export as their own STL in the set.
• A real build plate. Your model now sits on a 220 × 220 mm bed with a millimetre grid, just like your slicer — so you can tell at a glance how big the print is and whether it fits.
• View buttons. Jump straight to Top, Front, Side, or 3D views, or tap Fit to frame your model — no more orbiting off into space.
• Tap any object to select it (it glows blue) and a full properties panel appears: spin, tilt on two axes with 15° snapping, scale, and 1 mm nudge arrows.
• Drop to Plate and Lay Flat buttons put your part flat on the bed, ready to print — perfect after tilting or importing a model.
• Live dimensions. A readout shows the exact width × depth × height in millimetres for the selected object or the whole scene — the same numbers your slicer will report.
• Models render with realistic physically-based shading, so the preview finally looks like the print.

Fixed:
• What you arrange is now what you print. Moves, rotations, scales, duplicates, hidden objects, and imported 3D files are all baked into the exported STL. Previously the export quietly ignored the workshop arrangement.
• Rotating an object now spins it in place. It used to swing around a far-off point like a tetherball.
• Two-finger drag now moves objects across the plate and follows your finger from any camera angle. Dragging used to lift parts into the air and invert after orbiting.
• Duplicates no longer vanish when you adjust a slider.
• Imported 3D files land where the file says they should, and they export along with everything else.
• Orbit below the plate and it fades away so you can inspect the underside of your model.
