- Tap the captions button on any voice message and it turns into text inside the bubble. It is there for the moments when you cannot listen but still want to know what was said.
- It works both ways: on the messages your partner sends you, and on your own, so you can check a recording before you let it stand.
- Your recording never leaves your phone. The whole thing happens on the device, nothing is uploaded, nothing is written to storage, and the text is never sent to your partner.
- The first time you read a message in a new language, iOS fetches that language's speech model. It takes about a minute, happens only once, and what comes down is the model itself - never your recording.
- Over thirty languages are available. If the text comes back wrong or empty, tap the language shown underneath it and choose another one.
- Transcription needs iOS 26. Everything else in Unspoken carries on working exactly as it did before on older versions.

- Everything you can send now sits behind a single + button beside the message box: photos, memes and voice messages, all in one place instead of scattered across small icons.
- Voice has a mode of its own. Choose Voice Message and the whole bar turns into one wide Hold to Talk button, so you will never start a recording by brushing the wrong spot again.
- The menu opens right next to the button you pressed, with an icon beside every choice, rather than sliding up from the bottom of the screen.
- Open a photo full screen and you can swipe straight through every other photo in the conversation, instead of going back and tapping them one at a time.
- Pinch or double-tap a photo to zoom in on the details, with a counter at the top showing where you are.

- Check the connection before you chat: the new Speed Test on the start screen sends a few test messages and a test photo, then tells you in plain words how this connection will feel.
- Push-to-talk is simpler now: hold the mic button to record, release to send. Every recording arrives as a voice message you can play back whenever you like.
- Live walkie-talkie has been removed. It never sounded good enough over a real mobile connection to be worth keeping.
- If your partner goes offline while you are still holding the button in a pinned room, your recording is no longer lost. It waits for them and arrives when they come back.
- Voice messages are slimmer, sitting in line with your text bubbles instead of towering over them.

Voice, and a gentler goodbye.

- Hold the mic button to talk. Your partner hears you live, walkie-talkie style, encrypted end to end like everything else.
- If they're offline in a pinned room, the same button leaves a voice message instead — delivered the moment they come back.
- Play voice messages right in the conversation, and quote them like any other message.
- Rooms that end now stay readable. When your partner unpins or the host leaves, the conversation waits on screen until you close it, instead of vanishing on you.
- Unpinning now asks how: leave your partner 7 days to read the last messages, or erase everything on both devices right away.
- If messages are still arriving when a room ends, the app waits for them before letting go.
